Just as many teens do, they make a few bad decisions, but one of them would pay for that poor choice with her life. This tragic event would lead to another tragedy and leave a small town in disbelief.

147. The Trunk Murders: Winnie Judd

 It was October 16, 1931, when Winnie Ruth Judd bought a train ticket, boarded the vessel with the two traveling trunks, and made her way to Los Angeles. En route, the trunks began to leak and emit a horrible smell. Police greeted Judd at the Los Angeles station and asked her to open the trunks. Winnie was afraid and mortified on the inside, but her outward demeanor was coy and stand-offish. When asked to smell the trunks, she leaned in and claimed that she couldn't smell anything at all. The baggage attendants pushed her to open the trunks. Claiming that her husband had the keys, she fled the scene. What would occur next would leave many asking what happened and who was responsible?

 On September 14th, 2015, Nicola “Nikki” Cross tucked her two children into bed and kissed them goodnight in their home in Hemel Hampstead. Her husband, Daniel, was on a business trip in Hull three hours away,

Around 10:30 pm a strange man appeared outside the house demanding Nikki let him in.  Nikki called Daniel to discuss how she and the kids could get somewhere safe when the strange man broke into the home. Helpless, Daniel listened as the whole nightmare unfolded.

Thursday, February 19, 2015, started like any other day. Dad, Darren, had left early for work. His wife, Anjie, was getting ready for a doctor’s appointment when their 16-year-old daughter Becky knocked on the door. She was coming home from spending the night at a friend’s house and her key didn't work. Becky went up to her room and was never seen again.

Everyone is stunned when Becky's dismembered body is found close to home.  Even more shocking was the person who confessed to her murder.

143. Halloween Horror: Nicole Hutchings

 It is Halloween night October 2004 and we are in Bend, Oregon. The evening is in full swing for the young treat or treaters but just getting started for the older ones. It is about 745 when a knock is at the front door of the Hutchings household. It was 21 year old Nicole’s friends asking her to attend a halloween party with them. After telling her mother about the invite, Nicole was out and ready to have some fun. Nicole had a lot of friends and enjoyed hanging out and having a good time. The following morning, Nicole was still not home. When her parents went into her room, they noticed her purse was still in her room. Thinking Nicole probably had a bit too much fun and must have stayed with a friend, her parents were not worried. That all changed as the day turned to night and no one had her from Nicole.

 In the early hours of September 13th, 2016, a woman we will only know as Jane Doe, loosened the clothes that were used to bind her hands and legs, found her captor’s phone, and quietly called 911.

When the 911 dispatcher answered, Jane Doe, whispered that she was lying next to the man that had abducted her and was holding her hostage. When asked if she knew the name of her kidnapper, Jane Doe replied Shawn Grate.

When police interviewed Grate, he confessed to more than just kidnapping.
