The corpses of five young women were found in and around several small villages in West Germany. Each woman had been raped, stabbed, or strangled. Even worse, they had been mutilated. Nearly two decades would pass, and many more women would lose their lives. When police finally arrested the man responsible for all these gruesome murders, there was a stew brewing on the stove with, well, you can’t imagine.

On September the 15th, 1990, people were walking along a river near Prague when they stumbled up what they thought was a mannequin. As they got closer, they realized it was the body of a young woman. Her body, nude, was left in a vulgar display. Her stocking was wrapped around her neck. The killer had tried to cover her with leaves and debris as if to hide his crime. The woman would turn out to be Blanka Bockova. Blanka had gone out the night before with friends to have drinks. The group decided to leave just before midnight, but Blanka was having fun and decided to stay for just one more. Her friends would say she was talking with a man who looked nearly 40 years of age, but that is all the information they could provide. What authorities could not yet know was that an international serial killer was just getting started, and he was no stranger to police.

Starting in 1981, a man answered several classified ads posted by women who were selling various items in local newspapers. This man was not buying a toaster or a new home; he was searching for his next victim. They were petite young women who often worked the streets. He would become known as one of the most prolific killers operating in Florida during the 1980s, but his luck would run out when he ran into a brave teenager who would lead officers right to this serial killer.

Slaughter Under the Midnight Sun : 9 Nightmares Before Christmas
Alaska, the Last Frontier: It is a place of stunning beauty and rugged wilderness. It is an outdoorsman’s paradise with plenty of big game to hunt and fish to catch. It is also a place where people disappear--some because they want to drop out of the fast-paced rat race and some not by choice. On April 29, 1984, Roger Culp went missing from Hopkinsville. Roger was last seen in the company of a newcomer to the area, a 25-year-old man named Michael Silka. Officers head out to Michael’s remote cabin to see if they can question him about Roger. As soon as they arrive, they notice what looks to be blood outside the cabin. As they approach the door, a man comes out and identifies himself as Michael Silka. He tells the troopers that the blood was from a moose he recently killed and was outside to skin the animal. Michael tells them he hasn’t seen Roger since Roger came by for a quick visit. Content with the explanation, officers leave the cabin. This was a mistake, and many would lose their lives at one man’s hand.

When a 13-year-old victim escaped a killer’s hold by gnawing through her bindings and running from the killer’s van, little did the police know that a series of murders and rapes were about to be solved. The officers arrested the man and soon heard a horror story that included crimes against young victims, but he had a partner. Together the two would commit a series of crimes to earn him the name Ogre of the Ardennes.

Today we are going back to April 14, 1989, where we meet a man named Ramon Salcido, a 28-year-old. Ramon grew up in Mexico and, at age 18, met a young lady he would marry. The only thing was she was pregnant with another man’s baby. After the baby arrived, she left Ramon and went back to the father of her baby. At this point, Ramon left Mexico and moved to California- Kern County area, to be exact. Here, he met a woman named Debra, and the two would marry. One child was born from that union; however, it was not meant to be, and they separated but never divorced. These two women and their children would not know they escaped a murderer, but the next would not be so lucky.

The Mosman Monster: Granny Killer John Wayne Glover Day 6 the 12 NIghtmares Before Christmas
It is day six of the 12 Nightmares Before Christmas. We are going to Mosman, a suburb of Sydney, Australia, where 82-year-old widow Gwendolin Mitchellhill was found right outside her apartment building around 4 pm on March 1st, 1989. Two children had just stepped off the elevator; through the glass security doors, they saw the poor woman crawling on her hands and knees with an immense amount of blood coming from her head. The woman’s belongings, shoes, cane lay neatly a few feet away, her pantyhose were off, and her purse was open. Assuming she had fallen and hit her head, an ambulance was called for the woman, and she was rushed to the hospital. One keen-eyed ambulance driver noticed her open purse, noticed her wallet was not inside and reported it to the police. Kind neighbors took it upon themselves to gather Ms. Mitchelhill’s cane and bag and clean all the blood from the sidewalk. This was the first murder by a man known as The Granny Killer.

Death Down Under: William Macdonald Day 5 The12 Day 5 Nightmares Before Christmas
For day five we are going ‘down under’ to Saturday, June 4, 1961. We are in Brisbane where a 55-year-old man named Amos Hurst meets a gentleman outside the Roma Street Railway Station. The two of them partake in lots of drinking and not wanting to end the night, the two head back to Hurst’s hotel room where they continued to drink. As the pair drank to near oblivion, Amos passed out only to wake up to his friend strangling him. Amos tried to fight back and was hit so hard in the face, he died. The killer then undressed Amos and put him in the bed as if he were just sleeping and made his escape. For days the murderer would obsessively check the newspapers for the death. Finally, days later, Amos Hurst’s obituary was in the paper saying that Amos had died of a heart attack. The man had just gotten away with his first murder and was now on the prowl In Brisbane for his next victim.

A Man Most Vile: Robert Black Day 4 the 12 Nightmares Before Christmas

This killer described his sexual abuse and torture of young girls as being like a theatre performance, and he was like an actor who would commit these crimes. However, he was not an actor but a delivery driver who committed the most heinous acts on the most vulnerable: young children. He was one of Scotland’s most evil, and we are looking at the atrocities one man bestowed on a community during the 1980s.

We are headed across the pond to Glasgow. It is the late 1960’s and there are lots of changes happening in the world. Glasgow had been ravaged over the years but the town was investing in herself. Fashion and music were bigger and better than ever before with the young generation leading the charge. The young adults were heading out and partying in clubs overall Glasgow wearing their finest attire. All that came to an abrupt end in 1968 when a killer came to prey on young women.

For the 2nd nightmare before Christmas, we discuss one of the oldest unsolved cases in New South Wales, Australia, and one of the country’s most infamous cases. Most of us know about the Beaumont Children’s disappearance, the three Australian siblings who disappeared from Glenelg Beach near Adelaide, South Australia, and are still missing. But I don’t think many of us outside of Australia know about Marianne Schmidt and Christine Sharrock, murdered on Wanda Beach a year before.

Lies That Bind: Chris Morris: Day 1 The 12 Nightmares Before Christmas
To kick us off on our first episode of12 Nightmares Before Christmas, we are traveling to southern Florida-- Coconut Creek, to be exact, where the Broward County Sheriff’s dept has been called out to an abandoned car. It is January 9, 1990, and just after 1:30 in the morning. Officers arrive at the car and notice all the windows have been shot out. As they get closer, they see something slumped over in the back seat: a man with duct tape covering his mouth, and bullets riddle his body. Officers are careful to search the car for some ID and find it. The man is 42-year-old Christopher Morris. So begins a tale of deceit, betrayal, and murder.

147. The Trunk Murders: Winnie Judd
It was October 16, 1931, when Winnie Ruth Judd bought a train ticket, boarded the vessel with the two traveling trunks, and made her way to Los Angeles. En route, the trunks began to leak and emit a horrible smell. Police greeted Judd at the Los Angeles station and asked her to open the trunks. Winnie was afraid and mortified on the inside, but her outward demeanor was coy and stand-offish. When asked to smell the trunks, she leaned in and claimed that she couldn't smell anything at all. The baggage attendants pushed her to open the trunks. Claiming that her husband had the keys, she fled the scene. What would occur next would leave many asking what happened and who was responsible?

On September 14th, 2015, Nicola “Nikki” Cross tucked her two children into bed and kissed them goodnight in their home in Hemel Hampstead. Her husband, Daniel, was on a business trip in Hull three hours away,
Around 10:30 pm a strange man appeared outside the house demanding Nikki let him in. Nikki called Daniel to discuss how she and the kids could get somewhere safe when the strange man broke into the home. Helpless, Daniel listened as the whole nightmare unfolded.
